Sep 2000 Koko Kato introduced Takashima Coal Mine in the 5th International Mining History Congress, Milos island, Greece
15 Jul 2005 Symposium of "The Modern Industrial Heritage Sites in Kyushu" was held in Kagoshima. "Kagoshima Declaration" was adopted.
02 Jun 2006 Kyushu Prefectural Governors Conference adopted the preservation and practical use of "The Modern Industrial Heritage Sites in Kyushu" as a policy objective.
27 Nov 2006 An application of "The Modern Industrial Heritage Sites in Kyushu and Yamaguchi" to be listed in the World Heritage Tentative List was submitted to the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
23 Jan 2007 Post entry to the World Heritage tentative list was unachieved.
21 Dec 2007 An application of "The Modern Industrial Heritage Sites in Kyushu and Yamaguchi" was resubmitted to the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
10 Sep 2008 The Cabinet Office of Government of Japan started to re-examine the domestic guidelines of the World Heritage nomination of industrial heritages.
26 Sep 2008 The Agency for Cultural Affairs announced that the post entry of "The Modern Industrial Heritage Sites in Kyushu and Yamaguchi" to the World Heritage tentative list was appropriate.
29 Oct 2008 Consortium for the Promotion of the Modern Industrial Heritage (Kyushu-Yamaguchi) to Inscription on the World Heritage was established.
22 Dec 2008 The Advisory Committee was established under the Consortium.
05 Jan 2009 "The Modern Industrial Heritage Sites in Kyushu and Yamaguchi" was listed to the World Heritage Tentative List of UNESCO.
22 Oct 2009 The proposal was presented at the 3rd World Heritage Symposium.
Dec 2009 The Cabinet Secretariat of Japan started working the industrial heritages to be inscribed to the World Heritage list.
26 Jan 2010 Working group meeting of agriculture, forestry and regional vitalization under the sectional committee of the regulatory reform decided the World Heritage nomination of the working industrial heritages as one of the regulatory reform policies.
Mar 2010 The nomination document of Yamamoto Sakubei coal mine paintings was submitted to UNESCO to be inscribed to the list of the Memory of the World.
07 Mar 2011 Liaison meeting of the related ministries regarding the World Heritage nomination of industrial heritages was established.
08 Apr 2011 Cabinet decision on regulatory reform was made and started to study the alternative conservation scheme other than the present scheme based on the Law for the Protection of Cultural Properties.
25 May 2011 The Yamamoto Sakubei coal mine paintings was successfully inscribed to the Memory of the World list as the first inscription in Japan.
25 May 2012 Cabinet made the decision about the nomination scheme of the industrial heritages including working properties to the World Heritage list.
26 Jun 2012 Expert Committee of Industrial Heritage including working properties was established.
03 Jul 2012 The 1st Expert Committee was held.
20 Sep 2012 "Liaison Meeting of the related ministries regarding the World Heritage Convention" under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs determined to recommend"The Modern Industrial Heritage Sites in Kyushu and Yamaguchi"to UNESCO.
18 Mar 2013 The industrial project team with regard to "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution : Kyushu Yamaguchi and Related Areas" was established under the Expert Committee.
23 Apr 2013 Draft of the nomination document was submitted to the Cabinet Secretariat.
11 Jun 2013 Preparatory meeting of National Congress of Industrial Heritage was held.
27 Aug 2013 The 3rd Expert Committee was held and unanimously made a decision to recommend "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution: Kyushu-Yamaguchi and Related Areas" to the World Heritage list.
10 Sep 2013 National Congress of Industrial Heritage was established.

17 Sep 2013 The Japanese Government officially determined to nominate "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution: Kyushu-Yamaguchi and Related Areas" for the World Heritage.
27 Sep 2013 The Cabinet Secretariat submitted the nomination document (preliminary version) of "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution: Kyushu-Yamaguchi and Related Areas" to UNESCO World Heritage Center.
30 Oct 2013 The 1st meeting of National Congress of Industrial Heritage was held.
24 Dec 2013 Cabinet made the decision on tax reform including reduction of property tax of Structures of Landscape Importance including the working industrial heritage owned by private sectors in case they were inscribed to the World Heritage list.
17 Jan 2014 The Japanese government made the final decision to nominate "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution in Kyushu, Yamaguchi and Related Areas" for the UNESCO World Heritage.
29 Jan 2014 The Cabinet Secretariat submitted the nomination document (official version) of "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution: Kyushu-Yamaguchi and Related Areas" to UNESCO.
14-15 Jul 2014 International Conference of Industrial Heritage was held. World TICCIH members and 1700 people including 26 experts of industrial heritage participated in the conference.
Prime Minister Abe, Mr. Kojima - the chairman of Mitsubishi Corporation, Mr. Imai - the honorary chairman of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, Mr. Muneoka - the chairman of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, Mr. Miyanaga - the president of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., Mr.Yuichiro Ito-the chairman of Consortium for the World Heritage Inscription of Modern Industrial Heritage (Kyushu-Yamaguchi) also attended at the conference.
19 Sep 2014 The draft of interpretation strategy was drawn up at the 1st working group meeting of the interpretation protection committee.
26 Sep – 05 Oct 2014 ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) evaluated 23 component parts of "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution: Kyushu-Yamaguchi and Related Area" in 11 days.
06 Oct 2014 Scotland government and National Congress of Industrial Heritage made a joint presentation about "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution: Kyushu-Yamaguchi and Related Area" at the CyArk500 Annual Summit at United States National Archives and Records Museum in Washington D.C.
04 May 2015 ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) recommended the Sites to be inscribed to UNESCO World Heritage list.
The title of the Sites was changed to "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution: Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding and Coal Mining" in accordance with ICOMOS's advice.
05 Jul 2015 "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution : Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding and Coal Mining"has been inscribed
on the List of World Heritage at the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee in Bonn, Germany.
